Cedar Breaks National Monument - Ranger Led Night Sky Tour beginning at 7:30 pm at the Visitor Contact Station at North View Overlook (weather permitting). The National Monument entrance fee applies ($25 per vehicle). This winter, skiers and snowboarders are invited to Ski with a Ranger at 1 pm on the first Friday of each month, starting on January 3, 2025, through May 2, 2025.

During the free tour, rangers from the Dixie National Forest provide an informative and enjoyable way to learn about the ecology and geology of Brian Head Resort and the surrounding national forest.

Tours depart from the bottom of the Giant Steps Express lift at 1 pm and last approximately one hour, conditions and weather permitting. Reservations are not required. Participants must be intermediate-level skiers or snowboarders and have a lift ticket or season pass. Attendance is on a first-come, first-served basis.The skiing portion of the tour starts at 1 pm; however, guests can meet with rangers from the Dixie National Forest at the base of the Giant Steps lift from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the first Friday of every month starting January 2025.

Ski with a Ranger at Brian Head Resort
 
This winter, skiers and snowboarders are invited to join the free "Ski with a Ranger" tours offered by the Dixie National Forest. Tours are available on the first Friday of each month, from January 3 through May 2, 2025, weather permitting. The tours begin at 1 p.m. from the top of the Giant Steps lift. Each tour lasts approximately one hour, offering insights into the ecology, geology, and history of Brian Head Resort and the surrounding national forest. Participants must be intermediate-level skiers or snowboarders and have a lift ticket or season pass. Reservations are not required.

Guests can also meet rangers and explore an information booth hosted by Dixie National Forest, the Zion Forever Project, and the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah at the base of the Giant Steps lift from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Fridays. Smokey Bear will make special appearances at noon, weather permitting. Note that the skiing portion of the tour may be canceled due to safety precautions.

2025 is a monumental year for Brian Head, and you’re invited to be part of the excitement! We’re thrilled to commemorate 60 incredible years of Brian Head Resort and 50 wonderful years since the establishment of the town of Brian Head. It’s a year of celebration, and the festivities are just getting started!

Snow shovel races have been taking place in Brian Head since the early 1970’s and have been a fun source of entertainment and laughter. This event is meant for the brave at heart with riding a snow shovel down a course which is judged with the best time. There will be two classes available: Snow Scoop Class: anyone between the ages of 5 to 12 years old, and an adult class for both men and women 13+ years old.

DATE: Friday, March 14, 2025 TIME: 1:00PM to 3PM (MST). LOCATION: Brian Head Resort’s Navajo Lodge Ski Base, 365 North Highway 143, Brian Head, UT 84719 REGISTRATION: Registration is free, but contestants will need to register for this event by completing a registration form. For participants under the age of 17 years old, a parent or guardian is required to sign.

RULES: 1. Each contestant will get two timed runs. 2. Contestants are required to wear a helmet and have eye protection for any practice or runs. 3. Contestants can sit or lay on a shovel, push off from the starting line, and stay on the shovel while sliding down the hill to the finish line. 4. Contestants must be sitting on their shovels when crossing the finish line; anyone not sitting will receive a did not finish (DNF) for that run. 5. Contestants coming off shovels during a time trial or Little Scoops run will receive a DNF and will be required to move laterally off the course. 6. Modified shovels are prohibited and will not be allowed to enter the race. All snow shovels must be a grain scoop snow shovel with the exception of a padded seat area. EQUIPMENT: Participants can bring their own snow shovel. There will be a couple of snow shovels available to the public. CLOTHING: Dress properly as you would if you were skiing/snowboarding for the day. WINNERS: Winners of the event will be announced after the races have concluded and the times have been recorded. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place for the Snow Scoop and Adult classes. Brian Head Resort: Spring Fling & Ski Swap is held at the Brian Head Ice (249 S Village Way, Brian Head). Everyone is invited to celebrate the end of the ski season and the arrival of spring. The event will offer pre-owned ski and snowboard gear for buying, selling, or trading, along with live music, local vendors, food trucks, and a raffle featuring exciting prizes. In addition, the event will feature a Snowshoe 5K Relay Race. Participants are invited to form teams and race through scenic terrain. Details are available on Facebook at /brianheadice.

Parowan Gap: Spring Equinox - Guided Walking Tour & Observation of the Spring Equinox Sunset begins at 6:00 pm at the Parowan Gap Historic Site (13 miles N of Cedar City off Hwy 130). Admission is FREE and everyone is welcome to join. Please come dressed for cooler spring weather and sturdy hiking shoes. At 6:00 pm meet at the Gap for the Spring Equinox presentation followed at 7:00 pm a walk to the Spring Equinox Carine to observe the sun as it sets down the center of the Parowan Gap. 
Getting There: The Parowan Gap is 13 miles north of Cedar City via Hwy 130.
From Cedar City: Go north on Main Street to Hwy 130 and continue north for 13.5 miles, then turn east and go 2.5 miles on the Gap Road.
From Parowan: Go north on Main Street to 400 North, turn west and drive under the interstate and continue west for 10.5 miles.
